Located in Gilroy – the “garlic capital of the world”, South Bay Polo is just minutes from South San Jose.  Close to many wineries, which is convenient after a long day at the field.

The horses are a big component of polo.  They need to be trained for the high speed bumping, and contact that happens on the field.  The tails are braided to prevent getting caught up in the mallets and the mane are shaved – well – so they don’t look like a sissy.

Watching polo can almost be as exhilarating. Fans, Friends and Family are encouraged to fill the sidelines and watch the action. Picnicking and tailgating are popular activities for the crowd.

Arena Polo is very popular, and is played as a interscholastic and collegians sport.  The area is much smaller than field polo, but can be very fast.
