Honey Badger Tournament a Great Success!!!

The Honey Badger Tournament started just as the sun began to burn off the morning clouds, and soon the battle began.  TEAM HONEY BADGER went up against TEAM COBRA in a battle of EPIC proportions.  What began as a seemingly equal match-up, TEAM HONEY BADGER soon dominated TEAM COBRA.  After 5 Chukkers, the score was 7 – 2.  Following the match, all competitors received a complimentary “South bay Polo” hat, and enjoyed a feast of Santos’ famous grilled chicken and carne asada, and of course, plenty of adult beverages!  TEAM HONEY BADGER Pictured – Terry Reilly, Santos Arriola, Lyn Jason Cobb, Joe, Madelyn Cobb, Stacia Hurley, Francesca “Frenchie” Finato.

Pony Club Introduction to Polo!

On August 19th, South Bay Polo hosted Bay View Pony Club for an introduction to Polo.  Pony Clubs develops character, leadership, confidence and a sense of community in youth through a program that teaches the care of horses and ponies, riding and mounted sports.  In the past, Polo has not been a big activity with Pony Clubs across the United States.  But that is changing thanks to many Polo and Pony Club supporters.  Many introductory clinics, such as the one at South Bay Polo, are being organized to give these kids a taste of “The Sport of Kings”.  They represent the next generation of Polo Players.  If you know a Pony Club that would like to organize a “Introduction to Polo” event, contact Francesca at Fran@SouthBayPolo.com.

Opening Day a Success!

On June 23rd, the Nation’s newest Polo Club, South Bay Polo, opened to great fanfare.  Owner Tim Westin offered up the celebratory toast, cut the ribbon and bowled in the ball to begin the first match.  The sidelines were packed with enthusiastic supporters from the local polo community.  After two high energy matches, a complementary BBQ was provided to all.  The local paper covered the event and a few of the local politicians came to give their best wishes.

Polo will continue at South Bay Polo on Thursday nights, and Saturday afternoon.  Check the Gallery Link for photos from opening day.
